When no feels rude in your mouth

Matthew 5:37

Let your yes be yes and your no be no.

When no feels rude in your mouth. That sounds small until it is your Tuesday morning. You do not have to deny what is happening. Christianity is not pretending. The question is whether the circumstance gets to become lord over the meaning of your life. A boundary is not a punishment. It is a decision about what you will participate in, and Jesus Christ never modeled unlimited access to every demand. You are allowed to slow down long enough to choose obedience instead of repetition.

What part of this situation belongs to you, and what part are you trying to carry for God?

Lord Jesus Christ, I bring You the part I can explain and the part I cannot. Keep me from reacting out of fear, shame, pride, or loneliness. Teach me to move with You. Amen.
